We were very kindly invited to attend the Geryfields's open day. It was a fantastic afternoon for all involved. The stand was setup with the usual two boards one called “Happy Hedge” and one called the “Weeping Wall” and a lot of post-it notes that we asked people to fill out.

We also spent a number of hours outside the Somerfield in the village center, the setup was slightly different in that we had Likes and Dislikes

  • Paulton is nice and laid back,it is safe here, I like the peace and quiet, it is very clean in the centre-the cleaners do a good job 41-65

  • Some of the footpaths are dog poo alleys, the hedges are not cut back frequently enough, you step in the poo as you are so busy trying not to get your face scratched 41-65
  • Rebuild the bike track, no where to play football 12-17
  • Bigger park and more activities and toilets in the park 12-17
  • We should have a museum in Paulton, we have 100 yrs of printing history amongst loads of other things 41-65
  • I worry about the future, I was born here and want to stay here but there are not any starter homes. My dad says that the council homes should never have been sold 18-24
  • There is not the infrastructure to support even more traffic generated by the new development we will be gridlocked 26-40
  • The crossing by the dentist is very dangerous 26-40
  • We pay too much council tax and get little in return 26-40
  • Toilets in the park 0-11
  • Running the cricket club has been a huge problem owing to the lack of volunteers, parents are willing to take but not to give 26-40
  • Behind Somerfields is a trouble spot 26-40
  • The rec needs changing rooms for all the football teams 26-40
  • A new pub on the door step may affect the takings of the existing pubs 26-40
  • Lack of employment 26-40
  • House prices are to high have any chance of affordable housing? 26-40
  • Crossing by Somerfields is dangerous, it is blind 26-40

Do not feel safe using the crossing it is in the wrong place 26-40
  • A bingo night would be great for the old people 26-40
  • A cinema and bowling alley needed 26-40
  • Afraid that new development will be village within a village 26-40
  • Road needs widening in Ham Lane 26-40
  • Too many houses being built in Paulton 26-40
  • There are too many commuters in the vilage because there is too little employment. The new light industry development can only be good if it brings new jobs 41-65
  • Property prices are beyond the reach of our youngsters starting out 41-65
  • There are too many houses and too much traffic already 26-40
  • No need for another care home 26-40
  • Will the school have massive class sizes 26-40
the wooden stiles rot and are slippery, they should be replaced with metal gates 26-40
  • The village wil lose its character as it gets bigger and people will cease to know each other 26-40
  • Will not be enough shops when the Polestar development happens 18-25

  • We want to see the countryside around the village, we do not want to join with MSN and Radstock 26-40
  • Too much traffic on the roads 41-65
  • Parish councilllors need to get off their backsides and support local clubs e.g. show a presence at fund raising events. Parish counciliors are only interested in serving their own interests e.g one has the contract for cuting the grass, they do not care enough about various age groups 41-65

  • A cinema somewhere 12-17
  • Paulton in boring there is nothing to do, can we not have a Badminton club in the vilage hall in the evenings 0-11
  • Car park in front of Somerfields should be shut and made into either a garden with seats or let the bus pull in there. Everyone should park at the back so that the precinct is safer. Irresponsible parking creates hazards for predestrians 26-40
  • I do not think that enough parking has been planned for the new development as many families have four cars 26-40
  • We held bingo sessions at the cricket culb but they were poorly attended despite advertising 41-65
