The Party in the Park was the first event that members of the Steering group attended. We were supported by Jackie Ward from Community Action. It was a fantastic day for all involved, we managed to get the website set up and handed out over a hundred leaflets. Jackie supplied us with the means of getting peoples comments this consisted of two boards one called the “Happy Hedge” and one called the “Weeping Wall” and a lot of post-it notes that we asked people to fill out.

On the day we collected 57 comments from members of the public.

There is a village feel with events like this being very positive (41-65)

The post office is brilliant because they open a bit later than most post offices (22-40)

Please keep the park as it is, no changes (41-65)

I like the fact that most people know each other and come together at events like this (12-21)

The village is kept clean and tidy (41-65)

The village has anglo saxon roots that should be publicised (41-65)

I like the village feel, it is a community (41-65)

It's Lush, I like the rec because it has a bike jump. Paulton News is good (12-21)

I think Paulton is great. It has a park I can go to and my school is nice. The park has a good climbing frame which lots of people can get onto at the same time (0-11)

Like the idea that tennis courts are free and we now use it (22-40)

What about the congestion problems in the village? (41-65)

Only two showers work in the swimming pool (22-40)

The new housing development could increase pollution as more people move in (12-21)

How about the congestion on the roads as it is congested already? (41-65)

More to do for the teenagers (41-65)

Traffic in the village centre (41-65)

More information on energy efficiency and grants for solar power and wind turbines (66+)

Nothing for teenagers to do in the area (12-21)

Recycling needs to be improved as there is too much packaging (66+)

Need more for teenagers in village especially in the park (12-21)

It would be great to have more shops in the village, maybe a nice coffee shop as there is nowhere for all ages to meet other than the churches (22-40)

To much traffic on the roads (66+)

Post office location is unsafe to cross the road (66+)

Need to divert traffic for Bath via MSN rather than Ham Lane (66+)

Bus service for Bath should be affordable (66+)

Planning permission for housing MUST be tied to provision of amenities i.e. schools, entertainment for 15-20 year olds (66+)

We could do with a cinema or bowling alley rather than more homes (22-40)

Concerned that more houses are planned and not enough employment to match (22-40)

Youth club for 11+ to stop them hanging around the rec and park (22-40)

Will the extra houses result in Paulton being reclassified as a town and so loose its identity? (22-40)

More dog mess bins around the village (41-65)

The re routing of the increased traffic generated as a result of the new development. What traffic management can be implemented i.e. calming issues? (41-65)

Loss of character of the high street because too many flats and not enough shops (41-65)

Road infrastructure re new development (41-65)

Introduce something to occupy the teenagers of the village. Perhaps a coffee bar/games room etc. (41-65)

The housing plan for the Purnells site is a worry as the village infrastructure can not cope (41-65)

The speed of traffic on Park Road should be 20mph (41-65)

I do not like the fact that the doctors surgery is to be built almost outside the village. Most people will need a car to get there so why can it not be incorporated within the new Purnell development (41-65)

More light industry and amenities (shops and tea rooms) required and less new housing (41-65)

Dog mess, especially in Brittan's Hill, Central garage to Ham lane, can dog warden address this? (22-40)

Like to see nets with the football pitch (12-21)

Please can we get a section 109 payment from the Purnell development for improved public transport? (22-40)

Strong business development advice to promote community unit use on the old Purnell site (22-40)

Dogs in the park. Ban them!! (41-65)

There is not much to do for teenagers (12-21)

Better swimming pool and more choice of toys for kids under 12 months (22-40)

Refuse collection, Ham lane stretch, dustmen put bin bags out on pavements causing an obstruction also please can they pick up the litter they drop? (22-40)

Can we please have some safety items put on the gates in the play park ? (41-65)

Less new homes, not enough schools, facilities for children including bowling, cinema, café and social club for children (66+)

More facilities for younger people (66+)

Do we really need this huge housing development. NO. The village will start to loss the community feeling, which is the reason we wanted to live in the country. (22-40)

More control of youths in rec and road (66+)

This new development seems to be like a separate entity within Paulton, not part of the village as it should be. (22-40)

Make a park near the Downsway estate or within the new housing development (12-21)

With the extra housing planned what will happen about the schools etc? (41-65)

Swimming pool toilets need some type of air freshener because they stink!! Need paper towels to wipe your hands after going to the toilet (22-40)
